KMES: ERP software for knitting operations, built with a Faisalabad exporter

Why KMES, ERP software for knitting and textile manufacturing operations, was built alongside a Faisalabad knitwear exporter, and what 'knitting-specific' means from yarn to article.

Circular knitting machines on a knitwear production floor

Knitwear production has many stages. Yarn is bought against purchase orders, processed, scheduled across a floor of knitting machines, sent through wet processing for dyeing and pre-treatment, and only then becomes a finished article ready to ship. Each stage has its own data and its own paperwork.

Why generic ERP struggles on a knitting floor

A generic ERP may not follow each stage of knitwear production. Plants then bend their process to fit the software, or keep the real record on paper and type it in after the fact. Either way, management sees the floor late.

Built with an exporter, not in a vacuum

KMES was developed alongside a leading Faisalabad knitwear exporter. Building it on a working floor meant the workflows were shaped by how knitwear is actually produced and shipped, not by a template.

What 'knitting-specific' means in practice

  • Yarn processing: purchasing and preparing yarn against each purchase order.
  • Planning and control: production schedules for the knitting floor.
  • Knitting: machine-floor execution, captured as it happens.
  • Wet processing: dyeing and pre-treatment tracked in the same record.
  • Articles: finished goods through to delivery.

Each stage is a sub-execution module, and all of them share one central record, alongside a full ERP core for HR, finance, purchase, inventory and stores.

What changes for the plant

  • Data from every knitting sub-process in one place.
  • Better efficiency and performance management.
  • Less paperwork, thanks to automatic data collection.
  • Condition-based machine maintenance and less downtime.
  • A floor that is connected to the enterprise ERP.
